Dear Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center Member:
For the nineteenth consecutive year, the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center will offer a
Career Mentor program to our real estate students
to assist them in the selection of an appropriate career path. We know that
guidance from an experienced real estate professional is invaluable to young
people anxious about career choices—especially in this challenging
economic climate. I invite you to serve as a Mentor for the 2009—2010
academic year.
We attempt to match students with Mentors based on common professional interests.
We ask that Mentors be available to their student, by phone or in person, at
least twice a semester. Such guidance as you may give creates absolutely
no obligation on your part to offer employment to your student.
Our Fall Members' Meeting, to be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, will
begin with a breakfast where mentors can meet their mentees. Experience shows
that this is an ideal forum for mentors to meet and talk with their assigned
student. If you plan to attend the meeting but are not able to be present
for the mentors' breakfast, we will try to make arrangements for you
to meet your student at some other time during the day. Once initial contact
has been made, the details of your relationship are entirely up to you.
To participate in the mentor program, please complete
the sign-up form. Our students recognize how busy you are. That you take
time to participate in this program enhances the value of the Zell/Lurie Real
Estate Center. I thank you for that, and for everything else you do for us.
Sincerely,
Joseph Gyourko
