Third and Final Phase of Sior Study
Professor Joseph Gyourko, Director of the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center, and Associate Director Asuka Nakahara have completed the third and final phase of a landmark study for the SIOR Educational Foundation. The third phase of this study analyzes the extent to which brokerage will be affected by technology and includes which aspects will likely be disintermediated or otherwise affected by the Internet and related technologies. Pamela Hinton, SIOR executive vice president says that this study "is drawing the roadmap that will lead to the brokerage industry’s future."

Presentations by Professor Peter Linneman on Real Estate and the Economy
Professor Peter Linneman has had a busy speaking schedule in June and July. Professor Linneman addressed the issue, "Is It 1990 All Over Again?" at the Chicago Title Insurance Company in Philadelphia, the Angelo Gordon Program in Aspen and the PCBC Leader to Leader Forum in San Francisco.

Asuka Nakahara, Associate Director of the Zell/ Lurie Real Estate Center, hosted an end of year party at his home for students, faculty, staff and their families. The food and drink were excellent and Asuka also arranged for the weather to cooperate. |
Professor Susan M. Wachter delivers Keynote Address at Real Estate Conference in Vail
Susan M. Wachter, Professor of Real Estate and Finance, spoke at a Real Estate Conference in Vail, Colorado on June 3, 2001. The conference was hosted by MIT, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Wachter was the keynote speaker at the conference's kick-off dinner, sharing her experiences during her term as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
