About the Program
Organized by the Wharton School International Housing Finance Program, the annual training program on housing finance has drawn an increasing and diversified number of students to the Wharton School. Last year, the course had 53 participants from countries in Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Western Europe and the US.
The program addresses the growing need for housing finance expertise by providing an intensive period of instruction in the institutional, financial and managerial aspects of the housing field. The course is conducted by faculty members of the Wharton Finance and Real Estate Departments as well as a number of highly qualified guest lecturers, specialized in public and private housing finance. The wide and diversified experience brought by instructors and participants to the classroom allows for a rich blend of academic principles with practical, real life applications. This approach can be observed by some of last year’s participants' comments:
- "The program is a unique opportunity to get a broad overview and understanding of the world’s housing finance systems, and a deep insight into the very central topics. Furthermore the participants represent a variety of different countries that gives you the opportunity to get in depth information about the local marketplaces." -- Michael Hauskou, Business Development Manager, Realkredit, Denmark
- "With previous experience in commercial banking, and being very new to housing finance, this course provides me the most comprehensive knowledge in this important area. The enthusiasm and willingness of the lecturers to provide knowledge is a great contribution and very much appreciated. Thanks." -- Gerhard Martin Engel, Senior Investment Officer, FMO, the Netherlands
