Wharton MBA Real Estate Club has active season
Wharton's MBA Real Estate Club has more than 50 events planned for this coming year, with possibly more to come. The membership includes more than 170 members and 21 executive board members from both first and second years.
The club again hosted event that continues an annual tradition of networking and welcoming of real estate clubbers to the New York area. Young alumni and current club members got together at the annual New York Real Estate Club Happy Hour in August at Connolly's Pub and in New York. Alum John Randall joined Ryan Berger and Charlie Gans, Vice-Presidents of Faculty and Alumni Relations, in pulling the event together.

"This past year," writes club president Laura Yablon, "club members have benefited significantly from the alumni as they were extremely helpful and instrumental for the first years securing summer internships and the second years jobs. Additionally, the Zell Lurie Mentors greatly enhanced the students' job search with the opportunity to get candid advice and leads to potential positions. One of the goals of the club this year is to help to strengthen the alumni networks with the students, especially from those that have graduated within the last five years. We welcome all alumni to join us for our events in Philadelphia or meet us for a networking reception after career treks to different cities."
The club's Career Treks this year include visits to the Empire State Building; Silverstein Properties and 7 World Trade Center; Hudson Yards Development Corp.; Colony, Apollo Management, Carlyle, and Blackstone in New York City. In Washington, D.C., their targets include JBG and Carlyle. Upcoming treks will go to Boston, London, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Colombia.

They have two case competitions planned for November: the internal Wharton-only Case Competition and the National Real Estate Competition at the University of Texas at Austin.
Their speakers include the fall keynote speaker, Colin Dyer, President and CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle; and spring keynote speaker John Gray, Senior Managing Director of the Blackstone Group. Tours will go to 10 Rittenhouse and the Comcast Building.
The club will partner with other Penn Schools and groups to learn more about sustainability. Last year they had more than 20 students get LEED certification through a class taught by LEED AP students.
Contact either co-president Laura Yablon or Chris McFall to be more involved going forward, have an idea for an event or would like to get updates from the club.
