EXPERIENCE
PRIMA AFP, PRIVATE PENSION FUND. Lima, Peru · 2007-2009 Deputy Chief Investment Officer - Developed and oversaw the investment strategy for all the companys portfolios (7Bn AUM) - and served as a main liaison to the Investment Committee. These funds where consistently ranked as top performers under my management.
- Directed the team of portfolio managers and research analysts in the daily operation of the Investment Department.
- Restructured the Investment Team and Process to focus on investment opportunities outside Peru. Led the internationalization of the alternative investments portfolio by analyzing the trends in institutional investor investments.
- Represented our funds in a common effort between the Peruvian Pension Fund Industry, local regulators and Barclays Global Investors to create the first Peruvian Exchanged Traded Fund in the NYSE. The ETF started trading in mid 2009.
- Negotiated the selling to strategic buyers of important equity stakes at two Peruvian companies.
- Directed the analysis of Private Equity and Real Estate Funds locally and internationally.
PRIMA AFP, PRIVATE PENSION FUND. Lima, Peru · 2005-2007 Portfolio Manager - Pitched investment ideas in equities, fixed income, currencies and investment funds to the Investment Committee.
- Managed a portfolio of 3bn AUM.
- Earned the promotion to Deputy CIO by being an important contributor in establishing the company as the leader in investment performance according to polls made by an independent consultant firm.
RIMAC INTERNACIONAL, INSURANCE COMPANY Lima, Peru · 2004-2005 Portfolio Manager - Oversaw the investments of USD 200 million, including equities, fixed income, currencies and international funds.
- Pitched investment ideas at the Investment Committee, attended by the CEO, CIO, CFO, CRO and a Board Member.
RIMAC INTERNACIONAL, INSURANCE COMPANY Lima, Peru · 2003-2004 Private Equity / Investment Analyst - Participated in the valuation, due diligence and acquisition of two insurers. Achieved special recognition of CEO for the results. With these acquisitions, Rimac became the leader in the Peruvian Insurance Industry by market share.
- Managed the due diligence and valuation of three electricity companies and real estate projects in Peru. Analyzed an opportunity to buy the Colgate Palmolive Building in New York.
- Developed valuation analysis for firms in real estate, cement, steel, consumer staples, banking, mining, energy and utilities.
RIMAC INTERNACIONAL, INSURANCE COMPANY Lima, Peru · 2001-2003 Risk Analyst - Designed the Investment Strategy for all each insurance reserve and got the approval of the Investment Committee.
- Identified a mayor long term profit opportunity by shifting the companys reinsurance contracts from proportional loss to excess of loss. Developed and presented the case to the Management Committee and got the approval.
