Timothy J. Naughton is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AvalonBay Communities, Inc., a fully integrated real estate investment and management company with a presence in most of the major metropolitan markets on the east and west coasts. Prior to being named Chairman of the Board, he was CEO since January 2012. He was President for the company since February 2005, and was responsible for the performance and coordination of various activities including development, redevelopment, construction, acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, and property operations. Mr. Naughton is a member of NAREIT, where he is on the Executive Committee as Treasurer, the Real Estate Round Table, the National Multi-Housing Council, where he serves on the Executive Committee, the Multifamily Product Council of ULI, and Health Care REIT, Inc., where he is on the board of directors. As an investor, AvalonBay is an active developer, re-developer, and acquirer of luxury apartment communities. As of December 31, 2014, AvalonBay owned and managed more than 82,000 apartments in 277 communities, had a total market capitalization of $28 billion, and employed approximately 3,000 people at its communities and 13 regional offices.
