James joined The Crown Estate in March 2009 as Head of Regional and St James's Portfolios, and is now the Director of Central London. The portfolio is valued at around £7bn and is primarily comprised of 8m sq ft of commercial property across Regent Street and St James’s in the West End, which includes joint ventures with Norges Bank Real Estate Management and the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
Since joining The Crown Estate, James has been responsible for the strategic approach to the Central London portfolio, including stakeholder relationships. James has also overseen the transformation of St James’s, with significant inward investment into the core St James's portfolio, which has included the £400m joint venture with Oxford Properties on St James’s Market.
He previously worked for Norwich Union/Morley Fund Management for over 10 years having held a number of posts, including Fund Manager for The Aviva Staff Pension Fund and Head of European Multi Manager.
James is Chair of the Westminster Property Association and Director of the New West End Company.
