Todd Sinai

David B. Ford Professor, Professor of Real Estate and Business Economics and Public Policy, Chair, Real Estate Department

Todd Sinai is the David B. Ford Professor, Professor of Real Estate and Business Economics and Public Policy, and Chair of the Real Estate Department at Wharton, where he has been on the faculty since 1997. Sinai also is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has previously been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago and Philadelphia. His primary areas of research focus on commercial and residential real estate markets, and in particular the determinants of real estate prices, real estate investment risk, and the role of government policy in real estate, especially tax policy. Sinai’s views and research have frequently been cited in the popular press, and he advises on evaluating real estate public policy. Sinai also is an independent Director of Ready Capital (NYSE:RC), a non-bank real estate and small business mortgage REIT.
