Susan M. Wachter is the Albert E. Sussman Professor of Real Estate and Professor of Real Estate and Finance at The Wharton School. She is Co-Director of the Penn Institute for Urban Research and Director of the Wharton Geographic Information Systems Lab. From 1998 to 2001, Wachter served as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research at HUD, a President-appointed and Senate-confirmed position. She served as President of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association and as Co-Editor of Real Estate Economics. Wachter frequently testifies before Congress and provides commentary to national media outlets on real estate trends.
